I love this axe

I love this axe. Comparing it to my Kalthoff Small Carver I find it very evenly balanced. The weight at just under 1.5 pounds is just right for me. The price was a real bargain. Highly recommended for spoon carving.

The case is beautifully crafted and sturdy. It's best suited for shorter and narrower knives, as my 15" throwing knives are too long and a bit too wide for it. Nevertheless, it does a good job protecting the blades and tips. I would love to see one made longer and with wider pockets for larger knives.

Refined Craftsmanship ‘to-a-T’

I purchased this first set of leather cutting tools back in May of 2025, which took a bit longer to receive than I was hoping. So I emailed Forged Steel Tools in the Ukraine, and they assured me that they were a legitimate blacksmith shop and that I’d receive my order within the next week.

When the set arrived, I was supremely pleased with the quality of the product(s), and they’ve been my “Go-To” tools ever since, and I have many.

Since that 1st shipment, I’ve also purchased their set of French Skivers as well.

I’m truly pleased with the look, the feel in the hand, and the performance of the cutting blades.

Very impressive at first glance. Polished cutting edge needs no additional work to make sharp. Have yet to see how the steel holds an edge over time. The concave face is tricky to sharpen. Qiute well pleased with the tool so far. Made in Ukraine?

Over time, you’ll find that the steel holds its edge exceptionally well, even with regular use. The concave face can indeed take a bit of practice to sharpen, but once you get the hang of it, it’s quite straightforward. We really appreciate your trust in our work!
